Created in a meditative environment , I refer to my drawings as organic mandalas. The interplay of light and dark represents the manifest (zahir) alongside the hidden (al ghaib), while the reflective nature of the chrome ink offers a mirror effect for the viewer. As my practice evolved, the centre of the piece - known as the zero point in the mandala, became less prominent allowing the viewer to consider any or all points to be the point of origin. The background gained texture, sometimes echoing patterns found in nature and human form. Additionally, the use of 3D materials such as dried flowers and glass reflects my fascination with merging the second dimension with the third, blending the abstract subconscious with the tangible physical.
