Created in a meditative space, Bandey describes her drawings as organic mandalas. The light against the dark symbolises the visible amidst the hidden, while the reflective quality of the chrome ink creates a mirror effect for the viewer. As the artist’s practice developed, the centre of the piece, also referred as the zero point in the mandala, gradually evolved allowing the viewer to perceive any or all points to be the point of origin. The background became textural, mimicking patterns found in nature and human form while the incorporation of 3D materials such as dried flowers and glass reflect the artists fascination with the merging of the second dimension with the third; the abstract subconscious with the tangible physical.
